Writing Projects from Joe Watts

Please visit my new website at http://www.watts-consulting.com for current information. I've stopped updating this site and will eventually point it to my new site (when I get a moment!).

I don't get to do as much writing as I'd like anymore, but I certainly started my career with writing. I've written for Weight Watchers Magazine as an assistant editor, for Backpacker Magazine as a freelance writer and for Southern Living as an intern--though that was years ago.

More recently, I've written public relations-style articles for trade industry magazine Coal People and tourism-related writing for the National Byways program newsletter Vistas in addition to writing periodically for the Alabama Sierran, a recent article for ACTION, a statewide newsletter and various other statewide publications. And, in the last year or so, I've taken to writing a good bit more copy for several blogs I maintain for clients. This includes the Your Town Alabama blog (a blog that focuses on all things Alabama, particularly small town planning and design, but also tourism initiatives and the like. It also includes a more recently started blog on Southwest Alabama (the Black Belt of Alabama, specifically) that includes travel-related material. This blog is just getting started--I'll be making periodic trips to the Black Belt of Alabama and developing travel guides for Alabama's Front Porches.

I've also written several grants in the past few years, but that's a very specialized type of writing that I only do for very specific projects.

Mostly, I write on my blog now, saving my time to do print and web design, but I enjoy writing and, if the right project comes along, I'm certainly interested.
